Andrea has been hosting yoga retreats in various locations worldwide…
Though yoga has its roots woven most deeply in India, Indonesia – with its pervasive spiritual undertone and Indian influences – is a top destination for yogis aspiring to become teachers of this ancient practice. Within the country, Bali is often understood to be the yoga capital due to its strong Hindu culture, though other areas of Indonesia do offer yoga teacher training courses as well. After sifting through all that is available in this culturally and environmentally lush and diverse country, we’ve narrowed down the yoga offerings available to give you the 10 best yoga teacher training programs in Indonesia – in Bali and beyond.
10 Best Yoga Teacher Trainings in Indonesia
Zuna Yoga
Beginning with one of Ubud’s best, Zuna Yoga operates from a variety of locations in Indonesia, including The Yoga Shala Bali; however, yearning for their own place to call ‘home,’ the individuals behind Zuna Yoga are opening their own private venue in March 2020. Both their current and soon-to-be venues are stunning, surrounded by rice paddies and the biodiversity that this island has to offer.
Program: Zuna Yoga offers 200-, 300-, and 500-hour yoga teacher training courses. Offered year-round, the 21-day, 200-hour program includes accommodation, three vegetarian meals daily, water, teas, group airport transfer, a course manual, and tuition.
What We Like: The new Zuna Yoga property boasts jungle views from every room. Brand new, the space is clean, comfortable, and breathtaking. We love the large yoga studio with its foldable glass windows that open the space up entirely to the lush green environments that surround it.
Cost: All-inclusive prices for 2019 training in Ubud start at $4375 USD, though if you join them in September in Gili Meno, prices start at $3650 USD.

Yoga East + West
Trainings at Yoga East + West are truly holistic, including instruction from one master teacher from India and one teacher from a Western city. Offered at their beautiful modern yoga resort in Ubud, Bali, training programs here are both luxurious and authentic. Their philosophy is ‘spiritual not religious,’ providing a truly non-denominational teaching of this ancient practice.
Program: The 200-hour program here is a combination of Hatha and modern Vinyasa teachings. The course includes three meals from Monday to Saturday, 21 nights of accommodation, certification upon completion, a training manual, evening meditation classes, a ‘Business of Yoga’ video training module, and one massage.
What We Like: The approach to the trainings here is truly balanced, as suggested by their name. By weaving modern science of physiotherapy into these ancient teachings, and by coming from a non-dogmatic lens, the program helps modern day yogis to understand how these ancient practices are deeply interwoven into who we are as a collective today.
Cost: Book early and fees start at $3950 USD. After the early-bird pricing, the rate starts at $4350 USD.
